When you’re ready to start your Shift, flex your J muscle and deselect then reselect the NHS job.
Next you will need to sign onto radio channel 2 and do /radiolist to display the list of people on the radio. You will then set your name on the radio using the following format:
/nameinradio [Callsign] Surname
Now that you have started your Shift you’ll need to head to the changing room, clothing store or utilise a clothing bag and select the relevant outfit for your rank and role.
Next you’ll head to the Equipment Storage (Back room of pharmacy) and use your Third Eye to access it, from here you can grab all the equipment you’ll need for your Shift.
Paramedics will require the following equipment at minimum:
Field Dressing x20
Elastic Bandage x20
Quick Clot x20
Packing Bandage x20
Sewing Kit x1
Pager x1
Radio x1
Medical Bag x1
All the equipment can be found in the medical bag so you dont need to carry too much in your pockets.
As a Student Paramedic you will need to Complete the GBHS Academy and be signed off by your Training Officer before you can solo respond to calls. Exceptions may be made by Gold Command.
When you first arrive on scene, position your vehicle close to the patient and in a way that would block traffic if needed. You will then carry out a quick assessment of the scene and call for additional units if needed. Announce yourself to the people on scene for example “I am [name] with the Ambulance Service I am here to help".
All Medical personnel should use /me to further medical rp. If the patient responds to the /me you must go down that line of RP treating the wounds they say they have while also using the medical system to treat their injuries.
While using the radio be sure to keep chatter to a minimum and only use the radio for important communications. Status codes and call signs should be used at all times.
